A typical day

An event day, from gates to egress

  1. Gates open

Gates are counted and queues measured, so the control room sees which gate needs more lanes.

  2. Kick-off

The north concourse passes its density threshold. The SOP starts, and a public-address message goes to the right speakers.

  3. Half time

Accredited areas admit only the staff and media allowed in, and every entry is recorded.

  4. Egress

Exits and car parks are watched as the crowd leaves, and the post-event report is built from the record.

Questions

What venue teams ask

Can temporary cameras be added for an event?

Yes. Cameras can be added for the event and removed afterwards, under the same policies.

How are thresholds set?

Each zone has its own threshold for density or queue length, set for the venue and the event, and crossing it starts the zone’s SOP.

Can access be given for one event only?

Yes. Access for staff, media and contractors can be scheduled for the event and removed after it.

What goes into the post-event report?

Incidents with their evidence, the decisions taken and when, and the crowd measures by zone, all from the same record.
